Guardrail

Guardrail is designed to prevent car rollover caused by crossing the sidelines and car accidents caused by road debris at waysides. KUKJE ST uses a ternary alloy coated steel (PosMAC) that is a corrosion-resistant products 5 to 10 times stronger resistance than that of a normal hot-dip galvanized steel sheet. We have many kinds of steel guardrails not only basic W-beam and Thrie-beam guardrails but also box beam guardrails considering beauty of the scenery for drivers.
Customers can choose our guardrails depending on their situations. Additionally, KUKJE ST’s guardrail offers not only greater durability but also higher passenger’s safety compared to other products that focus only on strength. Our product has passed SB1, SB2, SB3, SB3-B, SB4, SB5, SB5-B grades of the vehicle impact test so as to be guaranteed its product performance.

PosMAC

What is PosMAC?

PosMAC (POSCO Magnesium Aluminum alloy Coating product) is a ternary alloy coated steel with high corrosion resistance.

  • PosMAC is a corrosion resistant products that is 5 to 10 times stronger resistance than that of a normal hot-dip galvanized steel sheet (GI, GI(H)) with the same coating weight.

  • PosMAC has an excellent cross-section corrosion resistance.

Why PosMAC has excellent corrosion resistance?

The magnesium(Mg) in PosMAC’s coating layer will accelerate the formation of a dense corrosion product called “Simonkolleite” which is extremely stable. When simonkolleite is formed on the surface of the coating layer in a film-like-form, it plays a role as a corrosion inhibitor for the base metal.

In addition, the upper coating layer can be dissolved to cover the cross-section and accelerate the growth of a stable corrosion product. However red-rust can be found in the already exposed steel plate, but fortunately, the film of the corrosion products covers the cross-section and serves to prevent corrosion.
